Count Owen - born Owen Franklin George Emanuel, in 1934 in St. Mary, Jamaica and moves to Kingston at age two at the untimely death of his mother Louise. Owen's singing career starts in Jones Town, Kingston, where the hypnotic digging songs sung by road workers cements his love of music.
Count starts performing as a one-man 'sound', providing lead vocals as well as accompaniment with unparallelled finger-snappin'! He single-handedly gets the dances going and keeps them going for hours until the end of his performances.Later with the coming of electricity to Kingston in the 50's, Count plugs into recording technology and produces seven Albums and several Singles with his band of musicians,embarks on tours, conquers competitions, all while nurturing his family of six children and loving wife Cherry.
